Job Description:
Overview
Christ Church is seeking a Spiritually mature disciple who is called to reach, disciple, and equip youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The ideal candidate will have experience and specialized training in Youth Ministry, Biblical Studies, or Christian Education.
Responsibilities
• Oversee spiritual formation of youth (grades 7–12)
• Develop and implement a comprehensive discipleship strategy
• Lead Sunday worship, midweek groups, retreats, and mission trips
• Recruit, train, and supervise adult volunteer leaders
• Communicate effectively with families and church staff
• Handle administrative duties including budgeting
• Model personal discipleship and church engagement
• Uphold all Christ Church policies and safe sanctuary guidelines
Qualifications
• Demonstrated spiritual maturity and Christlike lifestyle
• Minimum 2 years experience in Youth Ministry
• Seminary or bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Ability to connect theology with youth culture
• Comfort working in a United Methodist context
• Leadership and communication strength across cultures and platforms
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Requirements:
Qualifications
1. Spiritual Maturity – The ideal candidate will be a person with a clear testimony of faith in Christ and a commitment to a lifestyle that demonstrates Christlikeness.
2. Experience – The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of successful vocational experience in Youth Ministry. Other vocational church experience or significant volunteer youth experience will be considered.
3. Calling – The ideal candidate will articulate a sense of call to youth ministry, evangelism, and discipleship. This candidate’s life will demonstrate a love for relating with youth and connecting them to Christ.
4. Education – The ideal candidate will have a seminary or bachelor’s degree or other specialized training in a field related to Youth Ministry, Biblical Studies, or Christian Education. Other educational or vocational training may be considered.
5. Theological Depth – The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to think theologically and apply foundational theological ideas to life and ministry in an engaging way.
6. Christ Church Compatibility – The ideal candidate will be adept in connecting the historic orthodox faith with the lives and struggles of Northern Virginia youth and families in an engaging, inviting way. They will be comfortable supporting the broad theological perspective and working within a United Methodist Congregation. (These include infant and believer baptism and women in ministry.)
7. Contemporary Issues – The ideal candidate will have the ability to exegete popular culture and be gifted in discussing sensitive issues of mental health, drugs, gender and sexuality that confront youth today.
8. Leadership – The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to recruit and develop leaders, both students and adults.
9. Diversity - The ideal candidate will be adept in building relationships with students and parents from multi-cultural backgrounds.
10. Communication – The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate well in multiple media (Oral, written, and through technology / social media).
11. Requirements of the Ministry – The ideal candidate will choose a missional lifestyle that will allow them to work many evenings, weekends, and holidays to be engaged in the lives of youth and families.
