Job Description:
Woodworking machine operators set up, program, and operate one or more woodworking machines to make or fix wooden parts for furniture, fixtures, or other wood products. They work in furniture, fixtures, and other wood product manufacturing plants.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Woodworking machines such as saws, moulders, lathes, routers, planers, edgers, pressing machines, shapers, drills, and sanders to fabricate or repair wooden parts for furniture, fixtures, and other wood products.
• Feed conveyors, hoppers, saws, and drying machines
• Sort, pile, and transport wood products
• Remove scrap lumber and wood chips for reprocessing using a forklift or other powered equipment.
• Operate gluing machines to glue pieces of wood together or press and affix wood veneer to wood surfaces.
• Assist other processing workers. to operate, maintain and repair various machines and equipment and carry out other wood processing.
• Clean machines and immediate work areas using shovels, hoses, and other tools.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

• No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
• Basic English level
• With less than 2 years of work Experience will be an asset but not required as we will train.

JOB DETAILS:

• Employer: Nicola Post & Rail
• Location: Quilchena, BC.
• Terms of Employment: Full-Time, Long-Term.
• Hours of work: 40 hours per week.
• Schedule: Mondays through Fridays from 6 am to 2:30 pm (times change periodically due to weather conditions. Flexibility to work overtime, evenings, and/or weekends, if required.
• Wages: $23.00 per hour (as per median wage).
• Overtime: One and one-half times the regular wage rate as per provincial regulations

BENEFITS:

• The employer covers insurance from Workplace Safety.
• 4% of earnings are paid out every payday of vacation as per provincial regulations.
• The employer will be covering the rent for 1 month. After one month, the employee will be responsible for their own rent and living expenses.

ANTICIPATED START DATE OF EMPLOYMENT: As soon as possible.
