Wholesale Buyer Job

Job Duties

Purchase merchandise for resale by wholesale establishment.
Review establishment requirements and determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
Interview suppliers and negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements.
Study market reports, trade periodicals, and sales promotion materials.
Select merchandise that best fits the establishment's requirements.
Oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets and maintain adequate stock levels.
Establish and maintain strong contact with suppliers.

Education: Completion of Post secondary (high) school is required.
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of direct experience as a buyer, purchasing agent, or procurement specialist in retail or wholesale operations.
Key Skills: B2B vendor negotiations, inventory control, pricing strategies, demand forecasting, and supply chain logistics management.
Software: Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Excel.
