Job Duties:
• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
• Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, gouging, brazing and soldering equipment.
• Determine weldability of materials.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment and understand pre-heat requirements.
• Fabricating, Assembling and Fitting Structural Steel.
• Rig, hoist and move materials to and from workstation.
• Performs crane checks daily prior to use to ensure the crane is in working condition, if applicable.
• Lay out reference points and symbols on the structural steel according to the blueprint.
• Assemble and fit metal sections and plates using tack welding, bolting or other methods.
• Set up and operate various equipment such as torches, drills, various clamping tools, squares, disc grinders and other handheld tools.
• Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
• Mentor apprentices and junior fitters by sharing knowledge and safe work practices.
Skills Required:
• Ability to read a tape measure in both metric and imperial.
• Ability to Operate Overhead Cranes.
• Ability to Weld.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
• A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.
• Organization Skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities.
• Good communication skills – both written and oral.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving skills.
Working Conditions:

• Hand-eye co-ordination
• Manual dexterity
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Experience Required:
• 3 to 5 years of experience working with structural steel.
Education Required:
• Completion of secondary (high) school or equivalent experience.
Wage & Hours: $34.07 per hour
• Number of hours per day: 8
• Number of days per week: 5
• Number of hours per week: 40
• Overtime starts after how many hours: 40
• Shift rotation: Straight Day Shift and Straight Afternoon Shift.
