 Oversaw 10 grossing laboratory technicians while collaborating with cross-trained lab technicians, histotechnologists, leads, supervisors/managers to guarantee timely completion of work during periods of understaffing or high-volume shift
 Assisted the supervisor in the daily oversight of the Grossing Department, which included the following responsibilities:
- Quality processing, accessioning, labeling, fixation, grossing, and staining of surgical samples, including gastrointestinal, prostate, bladder, gynecological, testicular, vasectomy, and dermatological;
- Documentation and transcription of gross descriptions onto Laboratory Information System (LIS);
- Embedding of processed tissues in paraffin;
- Preparation of standard chemical solutions;
- Inventory, ordering, and restocking of department supplies;
- Delegation of assignments and follow-up of employees to manage daily workflow to ensure optimal daily workflow efficiency;
- Training and development of new hires by consistently providing feedback and suggestions; and
- Arrangement of department schedules and daily task rotation
 Maintained strict adherence to established laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIAs), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules, company regulations, and IT and computer systems protocols
 Performed routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, which involves troubleshooting minor equipment failures, documenting remedial repairs, and assisting in machine verifications
 Ensured cleanliness of laboratory space and department areas by conducting routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
 Rendered effectual support in answering employee questions, resolving problems, and escalating complex issues to the grossing and IHC supervisor along with the histology manager
 Assumed responsibility for routine and non-routine IHC activities, including the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation; manual and automated cover slipping of stained slides; preparation of solutions and reagents for special stains procedures; quality checking of slides; testing of controls using microscope; and filing of paraffin blocks
 Documented all control quality and reported unacceptable controls to the IHC lead
 Demonstrated basic understating of the microtome and microtomy
