The Vice President of Supply Chain will oversee Purchasing, Logistics, and Inventory Management functions to ensure a stable and reliable supply chain network, covering everything from raw material sourcing to product delivery.

Position Responsibilities:

• Direct Purchasing, Logistics, and Inventory Management functions and ensure seamless operations across all facets of the supply chain.
• Lead and mentor a team of supply chain professionals, delegate responsibilities and set well-defined goals and performance measurements.
• Work closely with the Production and Sales departments to align supply chain operations with company needs and goals.
• Evaluate supply chain performance metrics such as pricing, lead-time, stock availability, inventory turnover and other relevant benchmarks, and implement corrective actions as needed to improve efficiency.
• Implement effective strategies to minimize supply chain disruptions and establish contingency plans to effectively mitigate supply chain risks.
• Spearhead the sourcing of new ingredients, raw materials, spices, and manufacturing machinery to enhance our product offerings and operational capabilities.
• Represent the company and cultivate strong relationships with suppliers, logistics partners, and distributors, meet with them regularly to enhance communication and streamline processes.
• Occasionally travel to China to meet with Chinese suppliers and business partners.
• Oversee the negotiation of supply contracts with domestic and Chinese suppliers, and secure favourable terms and conditions.
• Set up and refine frameworks used to assess supplier capabilities, evaluate pricing structures, and establish clear expectations regarding quality and delivery timelines.
• Optimize the delivery speed and costs of a global logistics network that encompasses the inbound shipping of raw ingredients from both domestic and Chinese suppliers, as well as the outbound distribution of frozen food products to Canadian and U.S. Asian supermarkets.
• Maintain compliance with local and international shipping regulations regarding fresh raw ingredients and frozen food products.
• Create systems for demand forecasting and stock level management to optimize reorder points, minimize holding costs, and avoid both overstocking and stockout events.
• Integrate advanced software systems to streamline and track purchasing, logistics, and inventory management workflows.
• Efficiently manage budgets while identifying innovative strategies to reduce costs and enhance financial performance.
• Regularly assess and refine supply chain processes to enhance performance and adapt to changing market conditions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• 8 or more years of senior management experience in supply chain management, demonstrating a deep understanding of all facets of the supply chain process including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and vendor relations.
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective supply chain strategies that drive operational excellence and improve performance.
• Advanced knowledge and practical experience with supply chain and inventory management concepts such as demand forecasting, JIT, FIFO, and material requirements planning.
• In-depth knowledge of global supply chain trends and best practices, with a particular focus on sourcing from Chinese suppliers for raw ingredients and/or production machinery.
• Must be able to occasionally travel to China as needed to engage directly with Chinese vendors and suppliers.
• The ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese is an asset but not a requirement.
• Skilled in optimizing import/export transport logistics to facilitate smooth cross-border transactions and timely delivery of goods.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and delegating complex projects while successfully handling multiple initiatives under tight deadlines.
• Familiar with working in an ISO 9001/ISO 22000 environment.
• Adept at using Microsoft Office, ERP, and supply chain software and tools.
