Veterinarian assistant Job

Working Hours : 36.00 hourly / 32 to 35 hours per week
Employment : Permanent employment ; Full time

Languages: English

Education:Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

Experience : 7 months to less than 1 year
Work setting : Animal hospital

Tasks :
- Collect samples and perform other laboratory tests
- Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
- Prevent and treat lameness by hoof trimming
- Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian
- Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian
- Counsel clients on animal health care
- Conduct and assist in laboratory research
- May perform a variety of office management and clerical duties
- Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry
- Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
- Provide wound and bandage care
