Salary: $71,000.00 - $80,000.00 CDN/Year, depending on experience.

Duties:

• Transporting goods across Canada and USA
• Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements
• Picking up goods from shippers and delivering goods to receivers on schedule
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals and brakes
• Maintaining an up-to-date log book manually or electronically
• Communicating with dispatch using communication devices once pickups and deliveries are complete
• Following all traffic rules and commercial vehicle operation laws
• Operate and drive primarily tractor-trailers weighing over 4500 kg to transport goods and materials over long distances
• Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods
• Provide dispatch with the necessary information to prepare ACEs and ACIs required to transport cargo on international routes
• Record cargo information, hours of service from the starting point to the destination, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• May perform basic roadside repairs if needed
• May drive as part of a two-person team

Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school.
• 2+ years’ experience operating a Class 8 transport vehicle, or completion of an accredited driver training course, as specified by the company, of up to three months duration.
• On-the-job training is provided.
• Valid AZ license or equivalent (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to provide a driver’s abstract and a driver’s CVOR abstract.
• Ability to provide a criminal record check.
• Role requires drug testing.
• Must be able to pass a driving verification test.
• Must be able to read and write English and/or French.
