J.E. Russell Produce Ltd. has an immediate opening for a Truck Driver (NOC: 73300) position at our location in Etobicoke, Ontario.
As a Truck Driver (NOC: 73300) you will perform some or all of the following duties:
• Operate and drive various large trucks, including tractor-trailers, long-combination vehicles, and straight-body trucks.
• Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules and ensure all necessary documentation is obtained for the transportation of goods.
• Conducting daily vehicle inspection and reporting any problems
• Check tires, brakes, lights, and other essential systems for safety and reliability.
• Safely secure cargo according to established safety guidelines and dealing with hazardous materials safely, as needed
• Communicating with dispatchers and other drivers using onboard radios or computers
• Maintain accurate records of driving hours, mileage, and fuel consumption
• Complete logbooks and other documentation as required by regulatory authorities manually or electronically.
• Performing emergency repairs when needed
• Communicate effectively with shippers and receivers at pick-up and delivery points, confirming the accuracy of cargo and documentation.
• Operate either independently or as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Report any issues or delays during the trip.
Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• On-the-job-training is provided.
• A Class 1 or A licence is required to drive long combination vehicles.
• Air brake endorsement (Z) is required for drivers who operate vehicles equipped with air brakes.
• Should have knowledge of required documents such as Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Dangerous goods occurrence reports, Driver logbook, Inspection report, Maintenance and repair reports and Trip reports
• Strong attention to detail, safe driving record, and commitment to safety standards.
• commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred and Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols.
Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time (35-40 hours/week)
Compensation: CA $36.00/hour
