Job Responsibilities

• Manage day to day dispatch activities, including assigning drivers, scheduling, and routing.
• Communicate with drivers to determine their availability, provide trip details, and offer ongoing support (e.g., fuel stops, roadside assistance).
• Dispatch personnel in accordance with schedules, work orders, and emergency needs.
• Monitor and track the location and status of trucks and cargo to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
• Coordinate with customers, brokers, and other businesses to schedule pickups and drop-offs.
• Proactively resolve transportation-related issues such as traffic delays, equipment failures, or delivery concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of dispatched trucks, drivers, cargo, and shipping documentation in the Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Ensure next day deliveries are fully routed before the end of each shift.
• Verify accuracy of shipping memos, including street names, duplicate orders, and product quantities.
• Ensure timesheets and payroll summaries are complete and accurate.
• Analyze transportation activities, cost, and generate performance reports.
• Monitor daily dispatch operations to quickly identify and escalate time-sensitive issues.
• Ensure all dispatch activities comply with transportation regulations and internal company policies.
• Optimize load planning and route efficiency to improve service and reduce costs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Completion of secondary school.
• Strong problem solving and multitasking abilities; capable of handling multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and internet applications.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick, informed decisions.
• Customer focused with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
