Job Summary:

N.E.G. Audio Visual Inc. is seeking a full-time Telecommunications Technician to install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications and low-voltage systems in commercial and hospitality environments. The successful candidate will work with structured cabling, telephone systems, network equipment, and associated hardware while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality and customer satisfaction.

Job Duties:

• Inspect, install, test, configure, and maintain telecommunications and low-voltage systems, including structured cabling, telephone systems, and network equipment.

• Diagnose faults in telecommunications equipment and cable systems using computerized testing devices and specialized diagnostic tools.

• Install, terminate, connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets, wiring, and associated telecommunications hardware according to project specifications.

• Test installed systems to identify transmission faults and perform adjustments, repairs, or replacements of defective cables, amplifiers, power supplies, and telecommunications equipment.

• Conduct preventive maintenance and inspect the operation of telecommunications systems to ensure reliable performance and minimize service interruptions.

• Complete and maintain accurate service records, testing documentation, and reports related to installations, inspections, and repairs.

• Coordinate work activities with project managers, clients, and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely and on schedule.

• Determine the nature, cause, and location of technical issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.

• Maintain and repair in-building transmission systems and other associated telecommunications infrastructure as required.

• Provide guidance and on-the-job instruction to apprentices or junior technicians on installation procedures, testing methods, and safe work practices.

Requirements:

• Completion of a post-secondary trades certificate or diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Network Cabling, Audio-Visual Systems, Information and Communications Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, low-voltage systems, or audio-visual integration.

• Knowledge of telecommunications equipment, network infrastructure, and testing procedures.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently using testing and diagnostic equipment.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship and safety practices.

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including day, evening, and shift work, and travel to client sites as required.
