Position: Telecommunications Cable Installer
No. of Positions: 3
Duration/Type: Full Time
Location: Field-based, assignments across Ontario and British Columbia. Frequent travel is required depending on project sites.
Reporting office: 2500 Williams Pkwy, Unit 49, Brampton, ON L6S 5M9
Salary: $37.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Travel & Lodging: All travel and accommodation costs related to work assignments are covered by the employer
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30-40 Hours a week. Overtime rate applicable per provincial employment standards.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
• Install, test, and repair telecommunications cabling systems, including copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cables, in commercial, industrial, and data center environments
• Perform cable routing through walls, ceilings, conduits, underground ducts, and other structures using industry-approved methods
• Conduct fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables, ensuring signal integrity and minimal loss
• Install and terminate structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber), including wall jacks, patch panels, outlets, and cable trays
• Operate and maintain tools and testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, fusion splicers, and cable certifiers to ensure quality installation and performance compliance
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine job specifications and layout for cable runs and telecom infrastructure
• Install telecommunications cabinets, racks, and enclosures while adhering to spacing, cable management, and safety protocols
• Conduct pre- and post-installation site inspections to ensure compliance with client specifications and applicable standards
• Identify and troubleshoot cable faults, perform repairs or reruns as necessary to restore or improve service
• Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other field crews to complete installations on schedule and within scope

Job Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• 7-12 months experience in installation of telecommunication transmission cables with single mode & multi-mode fibre, fusion splicing is required.
• A strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, routing, and switching technologies.
• Understanding and adhering to telecommunications regulations and compliance standards
• Valid driver's license to travel to various installation sites.
