Job Code / NOC / SOC: 202501
Category: Engineering
Job Description:
• Create comprehensive program schedules for the network hardware design, Bill of Materials (BOM) creation, and deployment of Cerebras’s hardware systems for AI. Drive networking hardware designs and BOMs towards closure. Work with rack integrators to understand detailed project plans. Track daily activities during deployment of Cerebras’s hardware systems. Escalate issues as needed.
• Own project documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs). Create and update Engineering Change Orders in Arena, our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Work with the engineering team to ensure accuracy and completeness of BOMs. Update part quantities, cost, and data sheets as needed. Approve design modifications in Arena.
• Oversee the engineering aspects of deploying hardware networking and front-end infrastructure racks, ensuring integration with Cerebras’s computing systems. Collaborate with software and hardware engineering teams to optimize system performance and reliability. Direct engineering efforts related to the deployment process, track technical progress, and address engineering risks by coordinating with leadership.
• Work with key stakeholders in product management and executive teams to define program strategy and requirements. For example, work with teams to determine whether Cerebras’s AI computing hardware will be used for training or inference, and work with the engineering team to update the Bill of Materials (BOM) accordingly.
• Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and procurement teams to coordinate component sourcing, vendor management, and logistics. Ensure parts are ordered with enough lead time to maintain program schedule.
• Ensure specialized mechanical components with long manufacturing lead times (such as custom cooling hoses, precision machined system interfaces, and structural rack elements) are ordered early enough to maintain program schedule. Work with manufacturers to design parts for cost, reliability, and lead time.
• Track daily activities during deployment of mechanical parts and designs in Cerebras's hardware systems by monitoring mechanical installation metrics such as cooling performance, structural stability, and thermal expansion within the specialized hardware system enclosures. Escalate issues related to mechanical tolerances, thermal management, or physical integration constraints that could impact the performance of the Wafer Scale Engine (WSE) chip systems.
• Update part quantities, cost, and data sheets for specialized mechanical components such as custom heat sinks, cooling manifolds, and structural supports designed specifically for Cerebras’s wafer scale engine hardware systems. Review Computer-Aided Design (CAD) mechanical drawings for accuracy and completeness before inclusion in the Bill of Materials (BOM).
