Systems Administrator Job

Job Summary:
We are seeking an onsite Systems Administrator (VMS Admin) to support implementation and ongoing administration of the Authority's Security Surveillance Platform (Genetec Video Management System) across Detroit Metro (DTW) and Willow Run (YIP) airports.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer (configure, update, maintain, troubleshoot) the Genetec Video Management System
• Manage system architecture — Directory, Archiver, Media Gateway, and failover components
• Monitor system health, performance, and storage utilization
• Administer AXIS cameras — configure, update, maintain, troubleshoot
• Provide maintenance and troubleshooting support for VMS infrastructure
• Support security surveillance projects with technical expertise
• Collaborate with IT teams on servers, networking, and cybersecurity requirements
• Deliver VMS system training across WCAA departments and airport entities
• Write and maintain technical documentation
• Maintain user roles, permissions, and audit tracking
• Participate in after-hours/on-call rotation
• Perform other related duties as directed
Required Skills & Certifications:
• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field — OR Associate's degree with 4+ years demonstrated experience in enterprise infrastructure (in addition to minimum qualifications below)
• 2+ years administering Genetec Security Center Enterprise or other Enterprise VMS (Milestone, Exacq Vision, Intelliscene, etc.)
• 2+ years administering AXIS cameras or equivalent (Pelco, Bosch, etc.)
• 2+ years maintaining/troubleshooting VMS-related infrastructure (physical/virtual servers, SAN, NAS, SQL Server, networking)
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
• Experience commissioning cameras, encoders, access control, analytics, and other security systems into VMS platforms
• Deep understanding of video streaming, encryption, recording, and retention best practices
• Troubleshooting experience with video loss, network connectivity, and performance issues
• Familiarity with enterprise authentication/networking protocols for VMS deployments
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and design coverage software
• Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
• Certifications: Genetec Security Center 5.x Enterprise, AXIS Certified Professional
