Job Description
System Interfaces & Data Integration
Interface Protocol Knowledge: Familiar with the data interaction mechanisms between the WMS and RMS (Robot Management System) / WCS (Warehouse Control System); understand the basic principles of communication protocols such as REST API and MQTT. Work with the IT department or software vendors to troubleshoot cross-system data synchronization issues such as task dispatch failures, abnormal status feedback, and inventory data discrepancies.
Abnormal Data Tracing & Correction: Interpret system logs to pinpoint data breakpoints in order dispatch, task assignment, and equipment scheduling (e.g., missing SKU codes, invalid target bin coordinates). Perform basic database operations (e.g., read-only SQL queries) to assist with data validation and issue tracing.
RMS (Robot Scheduling System) Maintenance & Operational Support
Scheduling Logic Configuration: Understand RMS task-allocation algorithm logic (e.g., shortest-path-first, task prioritization, charging management strategy). Perform basic configuration in the RMS backend based on actual warehouse workflows (e.g., wave picking, replenishment priority) — such as adjusting task priority thresholds and setting equipment maintenance reminders.
Real-time Monitoring & Intervention: Use the RMS monitoring dashboard to simultaneously monitor the operating status (online/offline/fault/charging) of dozens of robots. Capable of emergency interventions via the RMS interface, including force-canceling stuck tasks, manually dispatching single-unit commands (e.g., sending a robot to a designated charging point or maintenance area), and manually resolving traffic deadlocks.
WMS System Advanced Configuration & Support
Strategy & Rule Configuration: Not limited to basic operations — Configure putaway logic, picking logic (e.g., FIFO/first-expired-first-out, batch picking), and wave templates in the WMS backend based on business needs. Independently create and configure system user permissions and print templates, and perform bulk import/maintenance of master data (e.g., bin location master data, product master data).
Terminal Integration Support: Support data integration between WMS and peripheral devices such as handheld terminals (RF guns), voice picking systems, and automatic labeling machines. Troubleshoot connection timeouts between the handheld terminal app and the WMS server, data upload failures, and offline data synchronization issues.
System Upgrades & UAT Support
UAT Coordination: Develop test cases for key business processes (e.g., receiving, picking, shipping, robot transport) ahead of WMS or RMS version upgrades. Be responsible for organizing key warehouse users to perform regression testing and compiling feedback for the development or vendor team.
Patch & Hotfix Implementation: Understand the deployment process and operating procedures for system patches or hotfixes (e.g., timing/window selection, data backup, post-deployment verification). Able to perform basic configuration file updates and service restarts under remote guidance from vendors.
Knowledge and Skills Requirement:
Robotics Hardware Knowledge (able to communicate effectively with professional robotics hardware engineers)
Robotic System Architecture Knowledge
Navigation & Localization Systems: Familiar with the navigation principles of warehouse robots (AGV/AMR), including laser SLAM navigation, QR code/magnetic tape guidance, and visual navigation. Able to diagnose navigation anomalies (e.g., positioning drift, path deviation) and perform map building, path optimization, and calibration/maintenance of positioning markers (QR codes/reflectors).
Fleet Management & Communication: Understands the basic architecture and operating logic of robot scheduling systems (e.g., WCS, RCS); able to monitor robot status and interpret system logs and alarm codes. Capable of troubleshooting communication interruptions between robots and the scheduling system (e.g., Wi-Fi signal failures, IP configuration errors, communication module malfunctions).
Robotic Hardware Repair & Maintenance
Drive & Power Systems: Proficient in the structural principles of warehouse robot drive mechanisms — drive wheels, steering wheels, motors, reducers, bearings — and able to independently disassemble, calibrate, and replace them. Experienced in battery system maintenance, including capacity testing, developing balanced charging strategies, and identifying/replacing degraded or swollen batteries.
Lifting & Actuating Mechanisms: Understands the working principles of lifting mechanisms (e.g., lift motors, lead screws, hydraulic systems) in different types of warehouse robots, such as latent/underride lift-type and forklift-type robots; able to perform routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and core component replacement.
Sensors & Control Systems: Proficient in inspecting, cleaning, and calibrating robot obstacle-avoidance sensors (LiDAR, infrared, ultrasonic), anti-collision strips, and emergency stop switches. Capable of troubleshooting and replacing core electronic components such as main control boards and communication modules.
Software Debugging & System Optimization
Fault Code Diagnosis & Reset: Highly proficient in common warehouse robot fault code systems (e.g., motor overload codes, navigation error codes, communication interruption codes); able to quickly pinpoint the fault from the code and carry out the standard reset procedure (hardware check, soft reset, system self-test, parameter calibration).
System Configuration: Able to configure robot parameters (e.g., running speed, lift height, charging strategy) and edit maps; able to optimize robot scheduling strategy based on warehouse operating rhythm to improve overall efficiency.
Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Skills
Electrical Control: Holders of a valid electrician's license preferred. Able to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot basic PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) input/output faults.
Mechanical Maintenance: Experienced in maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor machinery; able to independently perform routine equipment maintenance, parts replacement, and emergency repairs.
Safety & Compliance Knowledge
Comprehensive understanding of industrial safety standards (e.g., Lockout/Tagout procedures), with strict adherence to them during maintenance work.
Familiarity with Canadian provincial and federal occupational health and safety regulations.

Education and Experience Requirement:
College diploma in computer science, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and 3-5 years industry work experience; or
Bachelor degree in computer science, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering and 1-2 years industry work experience.
