Position: Swimming Coach Supervisor
Employer: Wayland Sports Ltd.
Location: 12080 Horseshoe Way, Richmond, BC V7A 4V5
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Annual Salary: $58,000 - $60,000
Hours: 30 hours per week
Main Duties
• Plan, develop and conduct swim training and practice sessions for competitive swim club athletes
• Identify and evaluate swimmers’ skill levels, strengths, weaknesses, and training needs and recommend appropriate training groups or program adjustments.
• Develop swimmers’ technical skills, physical fitness, discipline, confidence, and competitive abilities through regular coaching and feedback.
• Develop training plans, internal assessments and competition preparation activities.
• Motivate and prepare swimmers for swim meets, competitions, and other athletic events.
• Analyze and evaluate swimmers’ training progress and competition performance and modify training programs as needed.
• Communicate with parents or guardians regarding swimmers’ progress, training goals, attendance, and competition preparation.
• Provide coaching instruction on stroke techniques, starts, turns, endurance, race pacing, and competition strategies.
• Ensure a safe and positive training environment.
• Teach swimming lessons to swimmers at other skill levels when needed.
• Supervise and provide guidance to swimming coaches and instructors to ensure training sessions are delivered consistently, safely, and in accordance with the organization’s coaching standards.
Employment Requirements
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in swim coaching in a competitive club.
• Experience teaching beginner swimmers and providing in-water instruction and supervision.
• Completion of NCCP level 1 is required.
• Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, stroke development, and athlete training.
• Lifesaving, First Aid, or swim instructor certifications are required.
• PoolSmart Pool Operator certification is considered an asset.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required by training and competition schedules.
• A Criminal Record Check is required

• Combination of pool deck instruction and athlete supervision
