Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Sushi Chef to join our team at Sushi To Go (Golden Pot Sushi Inc.) in Victoria, BC.
Position Details:
• Position: Sushi Chef
• Wage: $22.00 per hour
• Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week
• Job Type: Permanent / Full-time
• Work Location: On site in Victoria, BC
• Schedule: Day, Evening, Morning, Night, Weekend, Shift, and Overtime as required
• Start Date: As soon as possible
The successful candidate will prepare and cook a variety of sushi and Japanese cuisine items while maintaining high food quality and safety standards in a fast paced restaurant environment.
Main Duties:
· Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
· Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
· Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
· Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
· Leading/instructing individuals
· Food safety/handling skills
· Package take-out food
· Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
· Stock refrigerators and salad bars
· Remove kitchen garbage and trash
· Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs
· Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
· Place dishes in storage area
· Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
· Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
· Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand
· Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit
· Sharpen kitchen knives
· Take customers' orders
Requirements:
• 1 year to less than 2 years of related experience
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and Japanese cuisine
• Food Safety Certificate or Safe Food Handling Certificate preferred
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, shifts, and overtime as required
• Strong teamwork, organization, and multitasking skills
