Employment Status: Full-Time (.75 or greater)
Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours every two weeks (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $29.08 - 36.34
Assists in the care of the surgical patient by performing the scrubbing role of handling instruments, equipment and supplies. The Surgical Technologist has an understanding of the procedure being performed, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, maintains a sterile field and is responsible pre- and post-operatively for technical components of surgery.

Essential Job Functions
* Provide laboratory instruction according to AORN and AST standards, which include but are not limited to; sterile technique, opening supplies, medication verifications, specimen care, counts, safety in the OR, instrumentation and supply identification, patient care, circulator roles, laparotomy and laparoscopy setup, draping, prepping, surgical hand scrub, gowning self and others, contamination identification and all things OR related.
* Provide clinical instruction in course work required for Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology.
* Must be responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the surgical technology program.
* Position involves traveling to local surgical facilities on a daily basis.
* Contribute to a positive and productive teaching and learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience
* Three years of current operating room experience. (Current operating room experience is defined as one of the last three years spent as a practicing surgical technologist and/or instructor in surgical technology.) Required by Accreditation body, CAAHEP.
* Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills required.
* Ability to work positively with teams and individuals with diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and interests required.
* Teaching experience in higher education or hospital setting preferred.

Certifications and Licenses
*Current certified surgical technologist (CST), required by Accreditation body, CAAHEP. At hire

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered. Employees that require a licensed or certification must be properly licensed/certified and the licensure/certification must be in good standing.
