Job Duties:
As a Driller at Conuma Resources, you hold a pivotal role in our open-pit mining operations. Your primary responsibility is to safely and efficiently operate rotary or top hammer drilling equipment to bore large blast holes to precise depths and locations.
• Safely and efficiently operate rotary or top hammer drilling equipment to bore large blast holes at designated locations and depths.
• Interpret instructions, diagrams, and layouts to determine the optimal drill pattern, hole depth, and diameter.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks on drilling equipment, which may include climbing and inspecting machinery.
• Execute steel changes as needed to maintain the drilling equipment's functionality.
• Collaborate with and assist blasters when required.
• Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner, perform pre-trip checks and complete FLHA's on a regular basis.
• Ensure adherence to Conuma's workplace policies and standard operating procedures.
• Identify and report risks, near misses and incidents with the goal of supporting and developing Conuma’s excellent safety standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills Required:
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating days, and nights; on a 7x7 rotation.
• Proven safety and attendance record.
• Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to changing work conditions and responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate well with peers, trainees, and leadership.
• First Aid/Mine Rescue Training is considered an asset.
• Physical fitness and strength to handle the demands of the role.
• Mechanical aptitude for equipment operation and maintenance.
• Strong commitment to safety protocols and a safety-focused mindset.
• Positive attitude and a team-oriented approach to work.
Experience Required:
• On-the-job training is provided.
• An asset: experience with an open pit mining environment operating blast hole drill rigs, including equipment such as Sandvik D75KS, D90KS, Atlas Copco DML, Pit Viper 271, 275, or similar.
Education Required:
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
Wage & Hours: $43.02 / hour
• Number of hours per day: 12-hour shift
• Number of days per week: 7 days bi-weekly
• Number of hours per week: 84 hours bi-weekly
• Overtime starts after how many hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift rotation: 7x7 schedule, rotating days and nights.
