Responsibilities (detailed tasks):
Inspect products to determine the requirements for repair
Products are stringed instruments and bows
Repair or replace defective or worn-out parts and components using hand, power or specially designed tools, including:
Repairing, resealing, reinforcing cracks, structural and domestic damage to high trade and client standards, replacing damaged parts of the instrument by customizing new pieces and blending them with the old parts
Grafting new necks to existing scrolls and bodies of the instrument
Replacing bass bars and fingerboards, ensuring precise adherence to instrument measurements, geometrical principles (including the Golden Triangle), stress points, and structural integrity to ensure correct playability
Regraduating of instrument plates where required
Conducting tone regulation and instrument setup
Re-hair, repair and restore bows for all string instruments
Installing new tips (bone), new lapping (silk or silver) and leather grips on bows
Re-cambering warped bows
Repair/splice broken sticks
Repair cracks in ebony frog
Test and adjust repaired products for proper functioning
Calibrate products using hand tools
Perform routine maintenance
Tone adjustments as necessary
Prepare written estimates of repair costs
Including disassembly, repair work and re-assembly and final setup
