Job Code / NOC / SOC: W3476646

Job Description:
Our client, a rapidly scaling AI software development startup (growing from 100 to 250+ employees this year), is seeking a Strategic Finance & Business Operations professional to join as a foundational hire and help build the finance function from the ground up. This role reports directly to the Head of Finance and works closely with the founders, splitting time between strategic finance and high-impact business operations initiatives.

What You'll Do:

-Support customer meetings, investor relations, pricing strategy, and demo preparation

-Build financial models, dashboards, and reporting to give leadership real-time visibility into revenue, burn, and unit economics

-Own FP&A, including annual planning, rolling forecasts, and headcount modeling

-Lead ambiguous, high-priority business operations projects — market analysis, vendor evaluation, partnership assessment, and more

-Design and build operational infrastructure and processes as the company scales

Who You Are:

-2–5 years of experience at a top-tier investment bank (e.g., Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs), private equity firm (e.g., Thoma Bravo), or top consulting firm

-Expert-level Excel/Google Sheets financial modeling skills, including three-statement models and unit economics (will be tested via an in-person case study, no AI tools)

-A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity — this is a flat organization with no managers, so you're comfortable finding information and solving problems independently

-High sense of urgency and ownership — comfortable with long hours, rapid change, and rolling up your sleeves to get things done at a high-growth startup

-Degree from a top-tier or Ivy League university

Nice to Have:

-Transition from finance/consulting into tech or startups, with Series A–D operating experience

-FP&A or strategic finance experience at a high-growth company

-Experience supporting fundraising, investor relations, or M&A processes

-Degree from a top-tier or Ivy League university, ideally in finance, economics, or a quantitative field

-SQL proficiency for data analysis

-Familiarity with Python or BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau)
