Job Description:
Operate a Class 3 commercial straight-body truck to transport donated furniture, household goods, food supplies, equipment, and other charitable items between donation locations, warehouses, and community service sites.
Perform scheduled pickup and delivery of donated goods from residential, business, and community locations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, tires, lights, fluids, and safety equipment to ensure safe operation.
Safely load, secure, transport, and unload donated items while following cargo handling and workplace safety procedures.
Assist with moving and positioning donated goods using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment such as dollies, carts, and straps.
Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle inspection reports.
Follow assigned delivery routes and schedules while complying with traffic laws and transportation regulations.
Communicate with dispatch, warehouse staff, volunteers, and charity program teams regarding pickup and delivery requirements.
Ensure donated items are handled carefully to prevent damage during transportation.
Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the assigned truck.
Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with donors, community partners, and charity clients.
Report vehicle issues, safety concerns, accidents, or delivery problems to supervisors promptly.
