Sterile Processing Manager Job

The Sterile Processing Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily operations within the Sterile Processing Department. Reporting to the Director of Sterile Processing, this position ensures departmental compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and hospital objectives while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a strong background in sterile processing operations, surgical instrumentation, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily sterile processing operations, ensuring efficient workflow and regulatory compliance.

Supervise and mentor team leads and technicians; maintain staffing balance across shifts.

Monitor and ensure adherence to infection control and aseptic standards.

Collaborate with OR, Endo, L&D, and Ambulatory teams to ensure timely instrument availability.

Manage departmental resources, budgeting, and performance metrics.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Two-Year Surgical Technology Course or CRCST/CSPDT Certification

Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree

Licensure / Certification:

Required: CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (IAHCSMM)

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience

Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in SPD or related surgical services

Knowledge of SPM Workflow Systems (or equivalent tracking software)

Familiarity with aseptic technique, infection control standards, and surgical instrumentation
