Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:
The DCD Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with developmental and cognitive disabilities. This role focuses on helping students build academic, functional, social, and life skills aligned with their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on students’ IEPs.

Provide instruction in functional academics, communication, social skills, adaptive behavior, and independent living skills.

Use differentiated and adapted teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.

Collaborate with special education teams, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families.

Monitor, document, and report student progress.

Implement behavior support strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.

Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment.

Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning.

Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.

Valid state Special Education license (DCD certification preferred or required based on state).

Experience working with students with developmental or cognitive disabilities is highly preferred.

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
