Software Testing Workstation Host
Minimal Active Work | Remote - United States | $100-200 USD per computer /month ?5 computers $500-1000 USD/month
About the Opportunity
We are a software development and hackathon team building and testing a new software product. We are looking for a reliable person in the United States who can provide a dedicated computer that our development team can remotely access for authorized software testing.
This is not a traditional programming position. You will not be expected to develop software or perform technical testing yourself. Your main responsibility is to keep the designated computer powered on, connected to stable internet, and available when our team needs it.
Why We Need a Remote Testing Computer
Our team needs a stable, real-world computer environment where we can remotely test software, updates, and application behavior.
• Install development or test versions of our software
• Run automated software tests
• Test new features and application updates
• Check software compatibility and performance
• Reproduce and debug software issues
• Test browser, desktop, or network-related functionality
• Perform scheduled development and QA testing
What You Will Provide
• A Windows computer physically located in the United States
• Stable home internet
• Reliable electricity
• A dedicated computer, separate user account, or isolated workspace
• Permission for our team to remotely access the agreed testing environment
• Basic assistance if the computer loses power or internet connectivity
• Occasional restarts when requested
• A quick message if there is an internet, power, or hardware problem
The workstation should normally remain powered on and connected. You are not expected to actively work continuously.
A Typical Day
Most days, you may not need to do anything. Our developers will remotely connect to the dedicated testing environment and perform their work.
If something goes wrong, we may ask you to:
• Check whether the computer is powered on
• Restart the computer
• Check the internet connection
• Confirm that the workstation is available
• Let us know about a power, internet, or hardware issue
No programming experience is required.
Computer Requirements
A spare Windows desktop or laptop is preferred so that the testing environment remains separate from your personal activity. A dedicated user account or isolated testing environment should be used to keep project activity separate from personal files and accounts.
Who We're Looking For
• Currently reside in the United States
• Have a Windows computer available
• Have stable home internet
• Have reliable electricity
• Can normally keep the computer powered on and online
• Can perform simple computer restarts
• Can respond when there is a connectivity or hardware problem
• Are comfortable following basic setup and security instructions
No software-development, programming, or IT experience is required.
Privacy & Security
Your personal information and accounts will remain separate from the testing environment.
We will not request access to your:
• Personal email
• Banking information
• Social-media accounts
• Personal documents or photographs
• Personal passwords
The workstation is intended only for authorized software-development and testing activities. It will not be used to impersonate you or another person or to access your personal accounts.
Compensation
$100-200 USD per computer /month ?5 computers $500-1000 USD/month
Compensation is for maintaining a reliable testing workstation rather than continuous active work. Payment terms and setup details will be explained and agreed upon before participation begins.
Application Questions
1. Your city and state
2. The type of computer you have available
3. Your Windows version
4. Whether the computer can stay powered on for extended periods
5. Whether your home internet is normally stable
6. Whether this is a spare or dedicated computer
