Ebates Performance Marketing, Inc. dba Rakuten Rewards is seeking a Software Engineer in San Mateo, CA.
Job Duties: Design, code, and deploy reusable micro-frontend components and pages using React, ES6+, HTMLS, and CSS3, integrating with the company's design system. Develop and maintain automated unit tests, Storybook examples, and Cl/CD pipelines to ensure front-end code quality, reliability, and consistent developer experience. Analyze web performance metrics and implement optimization techniques-caching, lazy loading, a11y, and resource delivery tuning-to achieve fast, accessible user experiences. Break product requirements into iterative deliverables; collaborate daily with product managers and UX designers in Figma/lnVision to translate wireframes into production code. Contribute to internal front-end tooling and documentation, and provide guidance during code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions. Monitor production micro-frontends, investigate defects, and release hot-fixes while upholding user-privacy, security, and availability targets.
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, the employer will accept two (2) additional years of front-end software engineering, web development, UI/UX design, or related experience.
• Experience: Two (2) years of front-end software engineering, web development, UI/UX design, or related experience.
• Specific Skills: This position also requires education or experience in: Front-end languages and framework (React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 or related); Sass/Less, CSS-in-JS; Modern build/bundling and dependency tools such as Webpack, Bable, npm/Yarn, Git version control; Unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or similar; Design system and UX collaboration using Storybook, Figma, or InVision; CI/CD; and Web performance and accessibility.
Pay Range and Benefits Information: The base salary for this role is $187,574 per year. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
