POSITION DETAILS
Position Title: Soccer Coach

Wage: CAD $36.60 per hour
Hours of Work: 30–40 hours per week
Schedule: Days, evenings, and weekends may be required depending on training programs and academy schedules

Benefits: 10 days of paid vacation per year or 4% vacation pay, in accordance with applicable employment standards
Overtime Wage:
Overtime will be paid in accordance with British Columbia employment standards: CAD $54.90 per hour after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, and CAD $73.20 per hour after 12 hours per day.

JOB DUTIES
The Soccer Coach will be responsible for the following duties:
• Plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate soccer training programs for players of various skill levels, primarily between the ages of 5 and 18;
• Conduct individual and group soccer training sessions focusing on technical skill development, including dribbling, passing, ball control, shooting, first touch, positioning, and game awareness;
• Assess players’ abilities, monitor their progress, and provide constructive feedback to support individual development;
• Create personalized player development plans to improve each player’s technical ability, confidence, and overall soccer understanding;
• Demonstrate soccer techniques and explain relevant principles to students in a clear and age-appropriate manner;
• Organize and supervise practice drills, small-sided games, technical exercises, and skill-building activities;
• Prepare training session plans and adjust coaching methods based on player age, ability, and learning style;
• Ensure proper use of training equipment and maintain a safe training environment during all sessions;
• Communicate effectively with players and parents regarding training progress, development goals, attendance, and academy expectations;
• Attend staff meetings and participate in coach development sessions as required;
• Document player progress and maintain training records;
• Assist with player evaluation, placement, and program planning;
• Promote the academy’s coaching philosophy and values while serving as a positive role model for young athletes.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a soccer coach, preferably with youth players;
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent;
• Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, technical skills, training methods, and youth player development;
• Completion of or willingness to complete a recognized soccer coaching certification through BC Soccer / Canada Soccer, such as Grassroots Coach Education, is preferred;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with children and adolescents;
• Ability to adapt coaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, age groups, and skill levels;
• Strong organizational and time management skills;
• Criminal Record Check clearance is required prior to the start date;
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required;
• Physical ability to demonstrate soccer techniques and participate in training activities;
• Knowledge of proper injury prevention and basic injury management techniques;
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are preferred.
