Job Description:
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent, 40 hours/week
Reports To: General Manager / Project Manager
Position Summary:
Responsible for installation, configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service of commercial AV, IT, structured cabling, security, and integrated technology systems
Leads field installations on active construction and retrofit projects
Acts as on-site technical lead for installation teams and subcontractors
Mentors junior technicians while maintaining high standards of workmanship
Supports commercial projects including restaurants, offices, hospitality venues, retail spaces, corporate facilities, and multi-site deployments
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and commission commercial AV and low-voltage systems, including:
Video conferencing systems
Audio systems and DSP platforms
Displays, projectors, and video walls
Control systems
Security and surveillance systems
Structured cabling systems
Network-connected devices and peripherals
Read and interpret architectural drawings, AV line diagrams, signal flow drawings, elevation drawings, rack layouts, and construction documents
Install equipment racks, display mounts, speakers, microphones, cameras, control interfaces, and network equipment
Lead on-site installation activities and coordinate daily tasks with Project Managers, General Contractors, other trades, clients, and subcontractors
Troubleshoot issues related to audio, video, networking, control systems, signal transmission, and equipment connectivity
Configure and test integrated systems to ensure proper operation
Maintain clean, organized job sites in compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements
Complete project documentation including deficiency lists, installation reports, service documentation, as-built markups, and commissioning records
Mentor junior technicians and apprentices on installation standards, troubleshooting, and jobsite best practices
Assist with project closeout activities and client demonstrations/training
Travel periodically for out-of-town projects throughout BC and other regions of Canada
Compensation & Benefits:
$37.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly
Overtime paid at 1.5× hourly rate for hours over 40/week (BC Employment Standards Act)
Emergency on-call work compensated at 1.5× hourly rate, minimum two-hour call-out block
Company-owned vehicle provided for all work travel (fuel, maintenance, insurance covered)
Vacation entitlement: 2 weeks (Years 1–2), 3 weeks (Year 3+)
5 paid sick days per calendar year (per BC ESA)

Mileage reimbursement at CRA rate for personal vehicle use

Job Requirements:
Education:
Other trades certificate or diploma
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial AV, low-voltage, or integrated technology installation
Strong understanding of commercial AV systems and signal flow
Experience with structured cabling installation and termination
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and cable certification tools
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to lead small installation teams and coordinate field activities
Preferred Qualifications:
AVIXA CTS or CTS-I certification
Experience with Crestron, QSC, Biamp, Extron, Ubiquiti, Cisco, Microsoft Teams Rooms, or Zoom Rooms
Fall protection, lift certification, or other construction safety certifications
Networking knowledge including TCP/IP fundamentals, PoE systems, and VLAN basics
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Active commercial construction sites and occupied customer locations
Frequent standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs
Exposure to construction environments, dust, noise, and varying site conditions
Occasional evening or weekend work to support project schedules
