Position Title
Senior Associate Attorney – Business & Civil Litigation
Position Summary
A boutique business litigation law firm in Newport Beach is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney with a minimum of 8 years of substantive civil litigation experience. The ideal candidate will be capable of independently managing a full litigation caseload, contributing to case strategy, and serving as a key point of contact for clients. This role is designed for an attorney who is highly competent, self-directed, and comfortable handling complex matters with minimal supervision.
Candidates must have extensive, hands-on experience in:
Drafting complex pleadings, motions, and oppositions
Propounding and responding to written discovery
Conducting and defending depositions
Managing mediations, settlement conferences, and other ADR proceedings
Preparing cases for trial and participating in trial work
Experience specifically in business litigation is strongly preferred and will be prioritized.
This is a small, lifestyle-oriented firm offering a standard 40-hour workweek, with minimal overtime or weekend work. The environment is professional, collaborative, and ideal for an attorney seeking meaningful litigation work without the demands of a large-firm schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manage litigation matters from inception through resolution
Develop and execute case strategy
Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and the court
Conduct legal research and produce high-quality written work

Collaborate with partners on complex matters and provide guidance to junior staff when needed
Maintain organized case files and ensure all deadlines are met
Required Qualifications
Active California Bar license (Required)
8+ years of civil litigation experience, including substantial experience in all phases of litigation
Strong analytical, writing, and research skills
Ability to manage multiple matters independently
Professional communication skills and proven client-management experience
Business litigation background strongly preferred
