Sales Supervisor - Consultant Job

Mrs. Dunster’s is looking for a consultant to act as our Sales Supervisor to grow sales and customer relationships throughout Maine while, providing hands-on oversight of Direct Store Delivery (DSD) routes and independent delivery contractors. The role combines new business development, support for existing accounts, and reliable delivery service across the company’s bakery product portfolio.
Sales and Customer Relationships
• Identify and develop new retail, food service, and institutional accounts, and increase product mix and sales within existing accounts.
• Maintain regular customer visits and account reviews to understand product, ordering, merchandising, promotion, and delivery needs.
• Present products, pricing, promotions, and company programs; recommend product solutions suited to each customer’s needs.
• Coordinate new account setup, ordering procedures, and delivery arrangements with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
• Resolve customer concerns promptly and represent Mrs. Dunster’s professionally.
• Monitor sales, market conditions, and competitive activity; establish and achieve territory growth objectives, identify opportunities to improve profitability, and share findings with management.
• Ensure Accounts receivable are current and within the limits and terms set by the company for each customer.
Route and Contractor Supervision
• Provide day-to-day support and oversight for independent delivery contractors, promoting accountability and reliable customer service.
• Recruit and onboard qualified contractors for existing and new routes, and coordinate replacement or temporary coverage when needed.
Qualifications
• Experience in sales, food service, distribution, route sales, or a related field preferred; supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to develop new business build customer relationships, and recruit and support independent delivery contractors. Retail or food service knowledge is an asset.
• Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills; dependable, self-motivated, and attentive to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently and balance multiple customers, routes, contractors, and priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, and strong computer and technology skills.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and willingness to operate a delivery vehicle and cover routes when required.
• Willingness to travel throughout Maine and occasionally to New Brunswick, Canada.
Measures of Success
Performance will be assessed through leadership skills, following our company’s values and Culture statements, sales growth, new accounts and expanded product distribution, customer satisfaction, reliable route coverage, delivery performance, and improved route efficiency and territory profitability.
