Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sales Engineer / Estimator to join our client’s dynamic team. This hybrid role combines technical sales, client relationship management, and detailed project estimation. The ideal candidate has a deep background in metal manufacturing and a passion for delivering customer-centric solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Sales
Act as the primary liaison for customers, building and maintaining long-term relationships.
Understand client challenges and recommend customized manufacturing solutions.
Manage an existing portfolio while actively pursuing new business opportunities.
Represent the company with professionalism, integrity, and technical expertise.
Project Estimation & Cost Analysis
Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical documentation to prepare accurate quotations.
Calculate costs related to labor, materials, tooling, outsourcing, and overhead.
Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, purchasing, operations) to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
Use tools like Paperless Parts to streamline and enhance the estimating process.
Project Management Support
Assist with project planning, including timelines, budgets, and customer deliverables.
Support production teams in executing projects to meet customer expectations and deadlines.
Track project milestones and provide timely updates and problem-solving as needed.
Technology & Process Optimization
Utilize CRM, ERP, and project management tools (e.g., Salesmate, Asana, Fulcrum) to improve internal processes and customer communication.
Identify and implement workflow improvements for quoting efficiency and accuracy.
Stay informed about industry trends, materials, and new technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field.
Experience:
Extensive experience in metal manufacturing, machining, sheet metal fabrication, and structural welding.
Proven track record in estimating and managing projects in a job shop or contract manufacturing setting.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD, ERP systems, CRM software, and quoting platforms (Paperless Parts experience is a strong plus).
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerancing.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
