Position Summary
The Receiving Shift Supervisor at Gow’s Home Hardware ensures all incoming merchandise is received, verified, and processed accurately and efficiently. This position provides hands-on supervision during receiving shifts, supports inventory accuracy, and helps keep product flowing smoothly from delivery to sales floor or storage.

Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory Control
• Supervise the unloading and receiving of deliveries from Home Hardware, furniture suppliers, and local vendors
• Verify shipments against packing slips and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and identifying damages or shortages
• Ensure merchandise is correctly labeled, entered into inventory systems, and staged for sales floor or storage
• Maintain organized, efficient receiving and backroom areas to support daily store operations
• Communicate receiving issues, discrepancies, or concerns promptly to management
Shift Leadership & Team Support
• Lead and direct receiving staff during assigned shifts
• Assign tasks and prioritize workflow based on delivery schedules and store needs
• Provide training and guidance on safe handling, organization, and store procedures
• Support a positive, respectful, and team focused work environment aligned with Gow’s values
Safety, Equipment & Store Standards
• Ensure safe lifting practices and proper use of equipment (pallet jacks and forklifts)
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard free receiving area
• Follow and enforce company safety policies and operational procedures
Collaboration & Store Communication
• Work closely with sales floor, warehouse, and management teams to ensure timely product availability
• Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and loss prevention efforts
• Support seasonal changeovers, promotions, and major deliveries
Qualifications & Skills
• A minimum of 2 years experience in receiving, warehouse, or retail operations
• Previous supervisory or lead hand experience is an asset
• Training/experience on successfully using the following systems: Prism, Home Info and Kibo e-commerce online ordering system
• Experience using E1 receiving and inventory management systems
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to safely lift and move merchandise as required
• Comfortable using inventory systems and basic computer tools
• Clear communicator with a practical, hands on leadership approach
Work Environment & Schedule
• Combination of indoor receiving, warehouse, and retail backroom environments
• Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on delivery schedules
• Physical role involving standing, lifting, and movement throughout shifts
