Responsibilities
Tasks
• Advise clients of their legal rights and all matters related to law
• Perform administrative functions related to the practice of law
• Perform management functions related to the practice of law
• Plead clients' cases before courts of law, tribunals and boards (lawyers only)
• Draw up legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
• Draft federal, provincial or territorial government bills
• Represent interests of corporation/employer in all business related to legal matters
• Act as executor, trustee or guardian in estate matters
• Offer mediation, conciliation and arbitration services
• Administer budget
• Supervise professional, para-legal and support staff and articling students
• Conduct law workshops
• Research legal precedents and gather evidence
• Provide public education seminars/sessions
• Write and edit for legal publications
