Job Summary
Alpine West Systems Electrical (AWSE) is a leading and rapidly growing electrical contracting company providing electrical services and solutions across commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Director to manage the company's purchasing activities and oversee the purchasing team. The position will be responsible for purchasing electrical materials, equipment, components, and related services, as well as working with suppliers and internal teams to make sure materials are available when needed.
The Purchasing Director will work closely with the President, project managers, operations, finance, and engineering staff. The position will also be responsible for supplier negotiations, purchasing agreements, purchasing budgets, material planning, and resolving supplier and purchasing issues.

Key Responsibilities
-Plan, organize, direct, and oversee the company's purchasing activities and manage the purchasing department.
-Develop and implement purchasing and sourcing strategies based on company requirements and project needs.
-Prepare, administer, and monitor the purchasing department's budget.
-Develop and maintain purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls.
-Source electrical materials, equipment, components, and related services for company projects.
-Review supplier pricing, availability, quality, delivery schedules, and other purchasing terms.
-Identify and evaluate new suppliers and maintain relationships with existing suppliers.
-Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and other terms with suppliers.
-Prepare and manage purchasing agreements and monitor supplier compliance with agreed terms.
-Monitor supplier performance, including product quality, delivery, pricing, and service.
-Review, process, and resolve claims against suppliers, including defective products, warranty claims, shortages, delivery delays, and pricing discrepancies.
-Plan purchasing requirements and coordinate material orders to ensure that required materials are available for ongoing and upcoming projects.
-Work with project managers, operations, finance, and engineering staff to coordinate purchasing requirements and priorities.
-Review product specifications and work with engineering and project teams when selecting electrical materials, equipment, or alternative products.
-Monitor purchasing costs and supplier pricing and identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs.
-Maintain purchasing records, supplier information, contracts, purchase information, and related reports.
-Interview, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate purchasing and procurement staff.
-Review purchasing procedures and identify ways to improve purchasing efficiency and supplier management.
-Provide the President and senior management with recommendations regarding suppliers, purchasing costs, market conditions, and supply issues.
-Represent the company in purchasing negotiations and discussions with suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and other business partners.

Qualifications
-A bachelor's degree in business administration, commerce, economics, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field is required.
-At least 7 years of progressive experience in purchasing or procurement, including several years of experience in purchasing agent or purchasing officer roles and experience in a management or senior management position.
-Experience managing purchasing or procurement staff.
-Knowledge of purchasing procedures, supplier management, contract negotiation, pricing, and cost analysis.
-Strong negotiation and communication skills.
-Good organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple purchasing requirements at the same time.
-Experience using purchasing and inventory management, or other business systems is an asset.

Leadership and Decision-Making
The Purchasing Director will be responsible for managing the company's purchasing activities and will exercise independent judgment in areas such as supplier selection, purchasing agreements, purchasing budgets, material requirements, and purchasing procedures.
The position will also make recommendations to the President and senior management regarding supplier performance, purchasing costs, market conditions, and supply issues.

Supervises: Purchasing and Procurement Staff

Employment Requirements
This is a full-time, permanent position.
The successful candidate will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week in a professional office and project-based environment and may be required to coordinate with suppliers, project teams, and other business partners as required by the company's operations.
