Job Description:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Perform engineering duties below under the supervision of Project Manager.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
2. Review, plan and check mechanical shop drawings and technical submittals with design drawings to insure it meets contract requirements.
3. Provide engineering support for construction effort including participation in construction planning and design, interpretation of design; application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, constructability reviews, etc.
4. Evaluate mechanical systems by reviewing design and shop drawings by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
5. Review design-build mechanical drawings, test and inspection of requirements to analyze mechanical components used in the construction projects.
6. Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs.
7. Research, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.
8. Analyze engineering calculations to review mechanical design shop drawings.
9. Review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
10. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
11. Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
12. Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.
13. Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.
14. Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and to recommend remedies.
15. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:

Educational and experience requirements include: 4-year bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field. Minimal construction engineering experience required. Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc., plus an understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a plus.
