Job Description:
SCA, Inc. is seeking a Production Engineering Specialist to support and improve its automotive manufacturing operations. The position will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing production processes, supporting injection molding operations, improving manufacturing efficiency and product quality, managing production information, and providing technical support to production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze production requirements, manufacturing processes, and production issues and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
• Support the setup, operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of injection molding machines and related manufacturing processes.
• Monitor production performance using OEE and other manufacturing metrics and implement process improvement initiatives to reduce waste and operating costs.
• Develop and maintain production data and manufacturing process information in the company's ERP system, including production orders, costs, material movements, and process flows.
• Review and reconcile production orders involving BOM changes, rework instructions, engineering deviations, and NCR modifications.
• Implement and maintain production and quality control processes utilizing PFMEA, PPAP, SPC, and MSA methodologies.
• Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and quality activities throughout the production and project life cycle.
• Develop production system models, specifications, and process requirements for automotive products and various material applications, including PE, PET, EPDM, NBR, and non-woven materials.
• Monitor manufacturing processes and material conditions and provide technical recommendations to improve process stability, product quality, and production performance.
• Support troubleshooting and routine maintenance of injection molding machines and production equipment to ensure reliable operation.
• Identify and implement process improvements to optimize production cycles, minimize material waste, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Provide technical support to production personnel and conduct training on manufacturing processes, equipment, quality requirements, production systems, and ERP procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• At least one (1) year of professional experience in production engineering, manufacturing engineering, automotive parts manufacturing, injection molding, or a related field.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and production systems.
• Knowledge of injection molding processes and manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with PFMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA, and OEE.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing and production-floor environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in automotive parts manufacturing or with a Tier 1 automotive supplier.
• Hands-on experience with injection molding machines and related manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with ERP-based production management systems.
• Experience with BOM management, engineering changes, rework procedures, and NCR processes.
• Familiarity with EDI, RFC, or R/3 manufacturing systems.
