ABOUT THE VACANCY
Custom Engineered Arts is seeking to hire a Product Designer to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. The successful candidate will support the design and development of custom-built products, displays, sculptures, replicas, props, and other fabricated items, from concept and 3D modelling to technical drawings and production support.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
• Consult with clients, management, and production staff to determine product requirements, project objectives, functional needs, dimensions, materials, and finish specifications for custom-designed products and structures.
• Develop design concepts, sketches, and computer-assisted 3D models for custom products, branded displays, sculptures, replicas, props, and other fabricated items for client approval.
• Analyze project requirements, intended use, structural considerations, and visual impact to ensure designs are practical, functional, and suitable for fabrication and installation.
• Research materials, production methods, finishes, and manufacturing constraints to support efficient and cost-effective design solutions.
• Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings, technical specifications, measurements, and production guidelines to support fabrication and assembly.
• Coordinate with engineers, fabricators, production staff, and installers during the design and manufacturing stages to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Review and revise drawings, renderings, and design specifications based on client feedback, production requirements, and site-specific considerations.
• Assist in the development and refinement of prototypes, mock-ups, and custom product samples to evaluate design feasibility, appearance, and performance before final production.
• Ensure final designs align with company quality standards, fabrication capabilities, safety requirements, and client expectations.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• A university degree or college diploma in industrial design, architecture, engineering, or a related field
• 1-2 years of related experience
• Portfolio of work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
COMPENSATION & CONDITIONS:
• Permanent, full-time position
• $38.46 per hour
• 30 to 35 hours of work per week
