Principal Software Engineer Job

Arris Global Services, Inc. Design and automate test plans, scripts, procedures and oversee their execution so issues are caught and fixed at early design stage. Review product design and provide input on functional requirements, product design, schedules or potential problems. Use Design Engineering tools as well as understand complex design and continuous improvement methodologies. Understand HFC network design principles, Hybrid Fiber RF design, FTTx, PON architecture and Distributed Access Architecture. Manage other engineers in system bring-up, design verification, troubleshooting, failure analysis and implement design optimization. Resolve issues, taking corrective actions to improve system performance and meet engineering specification. Develop scripts/ tests for spurious and RF tests using graphical programming platform like lab view. Implement system modifications to prepare for product release. Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function. Monitor bug resolution efforts and tracking successes. Create or maintain database for defects. Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, completeness, and mitigation of any identified risks. Develop testing programs that address database impacts, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, document the results and tests. Conduct factory visit during new product introduction for initial board bring- up and readiness for high volume production. Set up product demos at tech Expo like Cable-Tec SCTE, ANGA COM, CES. Conduct and automation Noise Power Ratio (NPR) and Bit Error Rate (BER) measurements, S-parameters, isolation and other RF parameters measurements using LabView. Construct systems measuring spurious disturbances at different input power levels and write scripts and automate test plans. Expertise in power cycle automation, power on self-tests, bootup sequence and configuring different chipsets. Expertise in System performance, regression, thermal and stress testing at operating temperatures. Expertise in 10G ethernet traffic generator setup using Spirent Smart bits with different frame sizes, broadcast frames, throughput, latency and RFC2544. Document and communicate project status, issues and requirements both verbally and in writing to management. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related and 5 years of experience required. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to worksite.
