Job Description:
Cleaner Job Responsibilities:
· Maintaining Cleanliness: Ensure the preschool premises are consistently clean and sanitary to provide a safe and healthy environment for children.
o Cleans, dusts and polishes fixtures, furniture and walls.
o Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
o Performs routine maintenance activities.
o Performs heavy cleaning duties.
o Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
o Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
o Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
o Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
o Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
· Sanitizing Surfaces: Regularly sanitize and disinfect surfaces such as tables, chairs, toys, and play equipment to prevent the spread of germs and illnesses.
· Managing Waste: Empty trash bins and dispose of waste properly to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
· Cleaning Restrooms: Thoroughly clean and sanitize restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, and floors, to ensure cleanliness and hygiene for both children and staff.
· Stocking Supplies: Monitor cleaning supplies and restroom essentials, such as soap and paper towels, and replenish as needed to ensure availability for staff and children.
· Laundry Duties: Wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry items such as towels, blankets, and linens used by children and staff on a daily basis.
· Maintaining Order: Assist in organizing and maintaining storage areas for cleaning supplies, toys, and educational materials to promote a neat and orderly environment.
· Adhering to Safety Procedures: Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of children and staff.
· Reporting Maintenance Issues: Report any maintenance issues or repairs needed within the preschool facility promptly to ensure a safe and functional environment.
· Communicating with Staff: Communicate effectively with preschool staff regarding cleaning schedules, any issues or concerns, and any special cleaning requests.
· Adhering to Health Regulations: Ensure compliance with all Grey Bruce Public Health regulations and standards set forth by local authorities or licensing agencies to maintain a healthy and safe environment for children. Including the Ministry of Education.
· Assisting with Special Events: Assist with setup and cleanup for special events or activities held at the preschool, as needed.
· Respecting Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of children and families attending preschool.
· Flexibility (General duties): Be willing to perform other tasks or duties as assigned by management to support the overall operation of the preschool.
Wage: $20 per hour.
Work Hours:
· The position entails a standard work week of 30 hours.
