Job Summary
The PLC Software Engineer primary output is development and support of functional and qualified PLC sample code and software tools for customer integration of Nordson products. Provide innovative and cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Responsible for code that meets product requirements, written efficiently, documented clearly, and bug-free
* Able to work independently or as part of a team to help define and interpret software requirements
* Exceeds internal and external customer’s expectations of timeliness to target, quality, and development cost
* Able to quickly adapt to changing requirements based on customer input
* Able to troubleshoot industrial control hardware, software, and networking issues
* Possess excellent communication skills with a strong desire for customer service
* Able to learn and adapt to new PLCs and protocols as they are introduced
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science preferred, others considered with appropriate experience
* Minimum 3 years PLC programming experience where programs were used on machines in a production environment
* Experience with machine commissioning and providing remote and on-site support preferred
* Must be familiar with IEC 61131 software standard, experience in Structured Text preferred
Skills and Abilities
* Self-motivated and passionate about your work
* Must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming with the major PLC manufacturers (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Codesys, etc.)
* Experience setting up and maintaining common industrial networks such as (Ethernet IP, ProfiNet, or EtherCAT).
