We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PaaS Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the Integrated Enterprise Services Platform (IESP) by architecting, developing, and maintaining internal platform services that abstract infrastructure complexity and enable development teams to deploy and manage applications efficiently. This role focuses on automation, scalability, security, and operational excellence across IESP PaaS environments and requires experience working with current and future National Airspace Systems (NAS) in all aspects of the OpenShift container deployment process.

Key Responsibilities for the Paas Engineer:

Architecture and Platform Strategy

Design and evolve a secure, scalable, and resilient internal PaaS solution on top of on-prem infrastructure (VMware vSphere and bare metal).
Define platform standards, APIs, and integration points for internal teams.
Evaluate and select approved FAA open-source and commercial tools to support platform capabilities.
Platform Engineering and Enablement

Build self-service capabilities for developers such as container orchestration, application runtimes, and databases as a service.
Develop reusable automation scripts and infrastructure modules using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
Standardize platform blueprints for application deployment including Helm charts, Kubernetes Operators, and GitOps/GitLab workflows.
Private Kubernetes Cluster Management

Deploy and operate highly available OpenShift and other Kubernetes clusters on the IESP platform.
Manage cluster lifecycle activities including upgrades, capacity planning, monitoring, and security hardening
Support NAS system integration within containerized environments.

Required Skills:

Strong experience architecting and managing enterprise-grade PaaS or platform engineering solutions
Advanced knowledge of OpenShift and Kubernetes administration in on-prem environments
Experience with VMware vSphere and bare metal infrastructure
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)
Experience designing API interfaces, platform standards, or reusable modules
Hands-on experience with GitOps, CI/CD workflows, and Kubernetes deployment patterns (Helm, Operators)
Ability to evaluate tools, technologies, and integrations that align with FAA-approved systems
Strong understanding of automation, scalability, and security best practices
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
A Bachelor’s degree and 11–15 years of experience is required.

SEMCON offers a competitive salary and complete benefits package which includes health benefits (medical, dental, vision, and life), a 401K with a generous employer match, paid time off, and paid holidays.
