Job Description:
The Plant Industrial Maintenance Mechanic supports safe, reliable production by installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial machinery, molds, dies, tooling, and related plant equipment used to manufacture food-grade aluminum containers. The mechanic responds to equipment failures, completes preventive maintenance, supports mold and tooling changeovers, and works closely with Production and Quality to reduce downtime and maintain product quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery, presses, forming equipment, conveyors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, motors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, and other plant equipment.
Install, remove, change, and properly secure molds, dies, tooling, and related machine components in accordance with approved procedures and production schedules.
Perform mold and tooling setups, alignments, adjustments, trial runs, and startups to confirm safe operation and acceptable product quality.
Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and process-related equipment problems; complete repairs or escalate specialized work when necessary.
Inspect molds, dies, and tooling for wear, buildup, damage, misalignment, or other conditions that may affect safety, uptime, or finished-product quality.
Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on molds, tooling, machines, and auxiliary equipment.
Respond promptly to breakdowns and production calls, identify root causes, restore equipment safely, and communicate equipment status to affected departments.
Complete scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance work orders accurately and on time.
Verify that guards, safety devices, interlocks, emergency stops, and related controls are functioning before equipment is returned to service.
Assist with new equipment installation, commissioning, modification, relocation, and continuous-improvement projects.
Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, diagnostic equipment, welding or fabrication equipment, and material-handling equipment safely and correctly.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts used, mold changes, downtime, and preventive maintenance activities.
Maintain an orderly maintenance area and protect tools, spare parts, manuals, and equipment from damage or contamination.
Support spare-parts inventory control by identifying required parts and communicating low-stock or critical-part needs to management.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, Warehouse, and management personnel to schedule work, resolve recurring issues, and improve equipment performance.
Follow all Company safety, food-safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, sanitation, quality, environmental, and security requirements.
Perform other maintenance and plant-support duties as assigned, consistent with the position's responsibilities and the employee's training.
Required Qualifications

At least three years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, mold or die setup, or closely related mechanical experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment; working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Ability to read equipment manuals, work orders, preventive maintenance instructions, diagrams, blueprints, and basic electrical schematics.
Ability to use precision measuring tools and safely operate common maintenance tools and equipment.
Basic computer skills for work orders, maintenance records, email, and parts documentation.
Ability to communicate clearly, work independently, prioritize urgent repairs, and collaborate effectively with production and quality personnel.
Ability to work the assigned schedule and respond to overtime, weekend, holiday, or emergency maintenance needs when business conditions require.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical diploma, apprenticeship, or certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electrical systems, machining, welding, or a related field.
Experience with presses, molds, dies, tooling, conveyors, packaging machinery, or high-speed manufacturing equipment.
Experience in food-contact packaging, food manufacturing, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, variable-frequency drives, sensors, motors, and industrial electrical troubleshooting.
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems and preventive maintenance programs.
