As a PCU RN, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients in the progressive care unit (PCU), a bridge between intensive care and medical-surgical units. You will work closely with patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, providing individualized care to facilitate progress towards discharge or inpatient status.
Responsibilities:
Monitor patients’ conditions, including vital signs, lab results, and medication administration, and adjust care plans as necessary Provide basic and advanced patient care, including administering medications, inserting IVs, and performing first aid or CPR as needed Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination Organize and prioritize tasks to manage a heavy workload and meet patient needs Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care and progress Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and unit operations Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and cultural sensitivity in patient care and interactions
Job Requirements:
Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required upon submission. Healthcare Provider Level AHA BLS required. GSR PCU 2S: ACLS and NIHSS required. Six (6) months RN experience in Med/Surg, PCU, ICU or a related area. PCU and basic EKG experience preferred. Verification of high school diploma or equivalent required due to the College of American Pathologists (CAP) requirements for moderate complexity testing.
