Payroll Clerk
Location: Leduc, Alberta, Canada
Pay Rate: $38.00 per hour
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk to join our team. The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for processing employee payroll, maintaining accurate payroll records, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and company policies. The ideal candidate is reliable, highly organized, and capable of handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time.
Review and enter employee timecards, attendance records, and pay rate changes.
Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, tax withholdings, benefit deductions, and garnishments.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, direct deposits, taxes, deductions, and leave balances.
Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, journal entries, and audit documentation.
Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and 1099 preparation.
Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll regulations.
Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting departments to resolve payroll discrepancies.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1–3 years of payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, or related experience preferred.
Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paylocity, QuickBooks, or Gusto.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, VLOOKUPs, and Pivot Tables.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification).
Experience with high-volume or multi-jurisdiction payroll processing.
