Position Description:
Designs, fabricates, modifies and evaluates complicated and difficult mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems. Prepares design specifications, analyses and recommendations for presentation and approval. Has technical responsibility for planning, organizing and conducting technical projects or phases of projects involving design and development of new or improved product and/or processes. Investigates solutions to product and/or process problems. Consolidates results of mechanical design elements for assigned projects. Coordinates the efforts of drafters/designers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required by assigned projects. Conducts independent technical investigations involving the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications and requirements.

A degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university is preferred. Typical educational requirements are a BS with 12 years of experience, MS with 8 years of experience.

Star ID will be required to obtain access to MSFC.
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
