Job Description

* Prepare interior and exterior surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, filling cracks and holes, and removing loose or deteriorated coatings.

* Inspect walls, ceilings, drywall, trim and other finished surfaces affected by plumbing installation, maintenance and repair work and determine appropriate preparation and finishing requirements.

* Prepare and refinish walls and ceilings that have been opened, repaired or otherwise affected during access to plumbing pipes, fixtures and related building systems.

* Apply primers, sealers, paints, stains and other finishing materials using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.

* Mix and match paints and finishing materials to obtain the required colour, texture, consistency and finish.

* Measure work areas and estimate quantities of paint, primer and other materials required to complete assigned projects.

* Protect plumbing fixtures, flooring, cabinets, countertops, equipment and surrounding areas by applying masking and protective coverings before painting.

* Perform painting, repainting and touch-up work following plumbing installations, pipe repairs, fixture replacements and related renovation or restoration projects.

* Remove existing paint, wall coverings and deteriorated finishes where required and properly prepare surfaces for new finishes.

* Repair minor surface imperfections and prepare patched drywall and other repaired areas for priming and painting.

* Apply finishing materials to walls, ceilings, doors, trim, bathrooms, kitchens, basements, utility areas and other residential or commercial surfaces.

* Erect and safely use ladders, scaffolding and other access equipment required to perform painting and finishing work.

* Operate and maintain brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other painting and surface-preparation tools.

* Coordinate with plumbers, supervisors and other trades to schedule painting and finishing work after plumbing installations and repairs have been completed.

* Inspect completed work to ensure appropriate coverage, colour consistency, surface quality and professional finish, and perform corrective work or touch-ups where necessary.

* Maintain records of materials used and advise the supervisor regarding paint, supplies and equipment required for upcoming projects.

* Clean tools, equipment and work areas and safely store paints, solvents and other finishing materials.

* Follow applicable occupational health and safety requirements and company procedures concerning the handling, storage and disposal of paints, coatings, solvents and related materials.

* Ensure completed work areas are clean and professionally restored before projects are returned to customers.
