Job Description:
Position: Orthodontic Dental Technician
Position Summary
The Orthodontic Dental Technician is responsible for fabricating, modifying, finishing, and inspecting orthodontic appliances and related dental devices in accordance with prescriptions and laboratory specifications. The position requires technical knowledge of dental materials, accurate interpretation of case requirements, and hands-on experience in orthodontic laboratory procedures to ensure the quality, fit, and timely completion of each case.
Wage: $42.00 to $58.00 hourly(to be negotiated) / 30 to 40 hours per Week
Benefit : Extended Medical Plan
Job duties:
1. Review orthodontic prescriptions, case details, and lab instructions to determine the necessary materials, fabrication methods, and step by step production plan for each case.
2. Prepare and process dental models, impressions, casts, and other case components needed to fabricate orthodontic appliances.
3. Design and fabricate removable and fixed orthodontic appliances and related dental devices in line with the prescription, established lab procedures, and case specific requirements.
4. Select, measure, adapt, and work with appropriate dental materials including wires, acrylics, metals, and other lab components to build orthodontic appliances that meet required fit, strength, and functional performance.
5. Modify and adjust appliances and components during fabrication to achieve the specified dimensions, shape, retention, and fit for each case.
6. Finish, trim, polish, and refine completed orthodontic appliances to meet laboratory quality standards and ensure they are ready for clinical use.
7. Inspect finished cases for dimensional accuracy, workmanship quality, material defects, and compliance with the prescription before release for delivery or further clinical processing.
8. Identify fabrication challenges or technically complex cases and, when needed, consult with the supervising dental professional or prescribing dentist to clarify specifications and agree on appropriate lab adjustments.
9. Maintain proper handling, organization, and control of dental materials, instruments, and equipment used in orthodontic appliance fabrication, while following all applicable laboratory safety and infection control procedures.

Requirements
• College/CEGEP diploma or certificate in Dental Technology, Dental Laboratory Technology, or a closely related field, or equivalent relevant training and experience.
• 3 years to less than 5 years of hands-on experience in a dental laboratory, including orthodontic appliance fabrication and modification.
