Responsibilities:
- Assist optometrist in performing eye exams and tests
- Take patient medical history and record relevant information
- Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry and visual field testing
- Prepare patients for contact lens fittings and assist with contact lens insertion and removal
- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and equipment
Experience:
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of pediatric optometry, ophthalmology, and optical procedures is a plus
- Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and insurance processes is beneficial
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and performing basic medical procedures using aseptic technique is desirable
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, colleagues, and vendors
- Sales experience or knowledge of optical products is advantageous
- Understanding of ocular anatomy, physiology, and common eye conditions
- Assist with front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and verifying insurance information
Candidate Requirements
Pre-test patients using the autorefractor, take visual acuities, verify patients' eyeglasses prescription using the automatic lensometer, take patients' IOP using the non-contact tonometer
