SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
HOURS: 40 Hours/Week
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 2+ Years
COMPENSATION: $64.86/hour
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technician with at least 2 years of experience to join the Nuclear Medicine Department.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating imaging equipment used to detect and map radioactive drugs within patients' bodies to produce diagnostic images. The technician will also be responsible for accurately positioning patients, preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, maintaining radiation safety standards, ensuring high-quality imaging and documentation, and supporting the proper operation of department equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Nuclear Medicine Imaging: Maintain and operate cameras that detect and map radioactive drugs in a patient's body to create diagnostic images.
* Patient Positioning: Position patients accurately and select appropriate anatomic and technical factors for diagnostic imaging.
* Radiopharmaceuticals: Order, prepare, administer, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols.
* Radiation Safety: Follow established radiation safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
* Image Quality & Documentation: Ensure the prompt submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS, including accurate image quality, lead markers, and patient data/history.
* Equipment Maintenance: Ensure imaging and other department equipment is functioning properly.
* Equipment Troubleshooting: Report potential problems or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel and lock/tag out equipment when appropriate.
* Department Maintenance: Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and orderly Nuclear Medicine Department.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
1. Experience & Qualifications
* Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technician.
* Experience working within a Nuclear Medicine Department.
2. Technical Competencies
* Experience operating nuclear medicine imaging cameras.
* Knowledge of patient positioning and selection of appropriate anatomic and technical factors.
* Experience ordering, preparing, administering, and disposing of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols.
* Knowledge of radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
* Experience ensuring diagnostic images and related documentation are accurately submitted to PACS.
* Ability to identify and report equipment problems or malfunctions.
