AWSE is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain to lead and oversee the company's procurement and supply chain function. Reporting to senior management, the Vice President will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating major purchasing agreements, overseeing inventory and material planning, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and related services required for the company's projects.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership to the procurement function while working closely with project management, operations, finance, and engineering teams to ensure that procurement activities support project schedules, financial objectives, operational requirements, and the company's long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement the company's procurement and sourcing strategies in alignment with corporate business objectives, project requirements, financial targets, and growth plans.
Plan, administer, and control the procurement department's budget and resources to ensure effective and cost-efficient purchasing operations.
Establish and implement procurement policies, procedures, standards, and internal controls to ensure consistent purchasing practices and compliance with applicable Canadian laws, regulations, contractual requirements, and company policies.
Lead strategic sourcing activities for electrical materials, equipment, components, and specialized services required for the company's construction and electrical projects.
Research market conditions, supplier capabilities, pricing trends, material availability, and industry developments to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
Evaluate and qualify new suppliers based on pricing, quality, reliability, production capacity, delivery capability, technical requirements, and overall commercial terms.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and service providers to ensure reliable supply and competitive purchasing terms.
Negotiate and manage major and long-term purchasing agreements, including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, quality requirements, warranties, service levels, and other contractual obligations.
Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with purchasing agreements, delivery commitments, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
Review, investigate, process, and resolve supplier claims and disputes relating to product quality, delivery delays, warranty matters, shortages, pricing discrepancies, contractual non-compliance, and other procurement-related issues.
Oversee inventory planning, material requirements forecasting, purchasing schedules, and stock-level management to ensure the timely availability of materials for active and upcoming projects while minimizing excess inventory, holding costs, and material obsolescence.
Work closely with project managers, operations personnel, finance, and engineering teams to coordinate procurement requirements, establish purchasing priorities, and ensure that materials and equipment are available in accordance with project schedules.
Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to review technical requirements and specifications for electrical materials, equipment, and alternative products and ensure that purchasing decisions meet project and technical requirements.
Monitor procurement expenditures, supplier pricing, purchasing trends, and material costs and use relevant financial and operational data to support purchasing decisions and cost-control initiatives.
Establish procurement performance indicators and monitor purchasing team performance, supplier performance, purchasing costs, delivery performance, and other relevant procurement metrics.
Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, supplier management, purchasing systems, inventory controls, and overall operational efficiency.
Lead, supervise, recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate members of the procurement and purchasing team and establish appropriate responsibilities, performance objectives, and professional development plans.
Provide strategic procurement advice and recommendations to senior management regarding supplier selection, material costs, market conditions, supply risks, purchasing commitments, and procurement opportunities.
Maintain appropriate procurement records, contracts, supplier documentation, purchasing data, and related reports to support financial controls, project management, and management decision-making.
Represent AWSE in negotiations and business discussions with major suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, and other external stakeholders.

Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in business administration, commerce, economics, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field is required.
A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, including experience in a management or senior management capacity.

Extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier management, purchasing contracts, inventory control, procurement processes, and supply chain management.
Strong knowledge of purchasing practices, supplier negotiations, contract administration, cost analysis, and procurement risk management.
Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate pricing, supplier proposals, purchasing costs, market information, and project requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, project teams, suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency with procurement, enterprise resource planning, inventory management, and business intelligence systems is an asset.

Leadership and Decision-Making
The Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain will exercise significant responsibility and independent judgment in managing the company's procurement function within the authority delegated by senior management.

The position will be responsible for making recommendations and decisions relating to supplier selection, purchasing strategies, contract negotiations, procurement budgets, inventory planning, supplier performance, procurement policies, and resource allocation.
